Favorite Workout Exercises, Very Briefly

There are lots of channels explaining ways to maximize workouts, but I find the two most important things is to just be at the gym 30-50 minutes at least 4 times a week (frequency), doing the most you can do in those times (intensity), and having someone tell you that working out makes you look great even if it is yourself (motivation).

I try to build workouts around deadlift (back), barbell curls (arm), and dumbbell bench press (chest) as these workouts easily gets my heart rates up. Though it's good to always think about alternative whole body workouts, here are some of my favorite exercises (without barbell) that I always come back to regularly:

  • incline dumbbell bench press (30-45 degrees)
  • dumbbell bench press
  • dumbbell shoulder press
  • pull ups / push ups / dips
  • side shoulder raises
  • dumbbell rows
  • barbell curls
  • curls on bench
  • light squat
  • dumbbell deadlift

Diet is very important, but I find eating healthy too miserable. I do make sure to get enough of whatever I need: supplement, fish oil, protein (some in the form of whey), pre-workout, melatonin, etc.

Sometimes, if I feel like I need to cut a little bit more, I pick of something like this from the groceries store and omit dinner.

I'm not sure if being process-driven (consistently working out, reading daily, etc.) is some copium for not yet achieving the big big. But it's always good to have good habits and become the kind of person that can form good habits. By focusing on the process, I was able to see incremental results in losing weight and achieving workout goals (e.g. higher pull up count, dumbbell weight, etc.).
